Bergenia stracheyi Kew (1956-55804)

An impressive large leaved Bergenia collected by Oleg Polunin in Kashmir, India, and accessioned by RBG Kew in 1956. It has been grown at Kew as B. stracheyi but it is more likely to be B. pacumbis. It produces large, obovate, mid-green leaves with soft hairs on the margin. Flowers are yet to be observed. It makes a superb specimen plant and would make a bold statement in the rock garden.
