The Bergen List is the personal research project of Scott Galloway, a botanist and horticulturist based in Glasgow. The project is borne from Scott’s deep interest and love for Bergenia - a small genus of spring flowering perennials native to alpine meadow, scree and damp woodland areas across temperate Central & East Asia. Scott has been growing and studying the diversity of wild and cultivated plants since 2021 and has now amassed the largest collection of Bergenia taxa in the world.

It is the hope that this website will be an important resource for anyone interested in the genus. The Plant Library holds around 200 records of interesting and unusual species and cultivars which it is hoped will inspire more people to grow Bergenia, as well as form a central source of information on the genus for students, gardeners, garden designers, landscape architects, botanists and taxonomists. It is the intention that this website be an ever evolving archive for Bergenia, providing information on the cultivation, conservation and classification of the genus.
