Bergenia ‘Silberlicht’

An old but classic garden variety bred by Georg Arends in Ronsdorf-Wuppertal, near Cologne, and introduced in 1950. It is known for its highly attractive white flowers which slowly age to a soft pink, held in cheerful apple green calyces with pink pedicels, in panicles well above the foliage. Strap-like, dark green leaves, with a strongly cuneate base, are reminiscent of B. stracheyi, forming neat clumps.

  • Garden cultivar. Not considered to be of conservation concern.
