Bergenia emeiensis CUBG (1996-0228)
The original Bergenia emeiensis clone collected by Mikinori Ogisu in 1982 in W. Sichuan, Jiulaodong, Emei Shan at 1750m and introduced to the UK and gifted to Cambridge University Botanic Garden by Roy Lancaster. It has attractive dark green strap-like leaves from which emerge the most beautiful, and delicate white flowers in early spring. Flowers may be affected by early frosts but it does make an excellent container plant when grown under cover. Found growing in the alpine house at CUBG.
