Bergenia ‘Doppelgänger’
An interesting named variety found growing in the Karl Foerster garden in Potsdam, Germany. It has rounded to ovate, dark green leaves with a slightly sinuous margin and sparse cilia at the base. Said to turn red in winter. In late spring, attractive clusters of white flowers blushed deep pink open from red calyces atop a red stem. Not currently available in the UK but can found from Viva I Priola in Italy who received it from Staudengärtnerei Gaißmayer in Germany.
