Bergenia cordifolia ‘Rosa Zeiten’

An older Rosemarie Eskuche cultivar with strikingly beautiful strap-like, leathery, dark green leaves that turn a brilliant dark red-brown in winter, lasting long through the season. Clusters of drooping light pink flowers appear in spring, held in dark red calyces, atop a strong, red stem, aging to dark pink and providing a nice contrast to the winter foliage. Surprisingly, it isn’t commonly available in the UK, although it can be found in specialist nurseries.
