Bergenia ciliata f. ligulata

A highly attractive wild collection from RBG Kew accessioned in 1977. It has large, leathery, smooth, bright green, rounded to ovate leaves with a distinctive ciliate, pink margin - one that certainly stands out from other plants raised under the name B. pacumbis. The name currently applied here is considered to be a synonym of pacumbis and should be treated as such. The lack of hairs on the leaf surface suggests this is true to the species thus the currently applied name should be updated. White flowers, blushed a soft pink appear in spring atop short red scapes. Not available for sale but can be seen growing at RBG Kew.

  • Garden cultivar. Not considered to be of conservation concern.
