Bergenia ‘Abendglocken’
A popular cultivar forming attractive rosettes of spoon shaped, deep green leaves with a loosely sinuous margin that turns a bronze purple-red in winter. Dark reddish-pink flowers held in deep red calyces droop elegantly over a tall red stem held well above the foliage. Attributed to Georg Arends from 1971. Fairly common in gardens and available for sale from Beth Chatto’s Plants and Gardens.
